Global health organizations, pharmaceutical companies, and major NGOs spend millions of dollars developing public health campaigns. Whether the goal is to promote maternal health, distribute vaccines, or combat infectious diseases, the core messaging is usually drafted in English by highly educated teams in Geneva, London, or Washington D.C.

But what happens when those organizations try to deploy that English messaging in Burmese? If they rely on direct, word-for-word translation, the campaign is almost guaranteed to fail.

**Why Health Messaging Gets Lost**
Healthcare is deeply intertwined with culture, and Western public health messaging relies heavily on specific idioms and a baseline level of medical literacy.

If you take a snappy English slogan about mental health that uses phrases like "feeling blue" or "battling your demons," and translate it literally into Burmese, it sounds absurd. The target audience won't understand the metaphor, and the core medical message is entirely lost.

Furthermore, translating complex English medical jargon into standard Burmese without context creates confusion rather than clarity. And if you are trying to reach minority populations in rural states who speak languages like Mon or Karen, handing them a standard Burmese pamphlet is entirely useless.

**Enter Transcreation**
To actually change health behaviors, you must connect with people on a cultural level. This requires transcreation.

While a translator focuses on word-for-word accuracy, a transcreator focuses on the feeling and the outcome of the message. Our transcreation teams look at the core intent of your English health campaign. We then completely rebuild the messaging so that it aligns with local Myanmar cultural norms, respects traditional beliefs, and uses idioms that local communities understand and trust.

A direct translation of an English directive might come across as overly aggressive or demanding in Myanmar culture. Transcreators soften the tone to ensure the message is received as helpful and authoritative. We adapt English video scripts, radio spots, and social media graphics into culturally resonant campaigns for ethnic minorities. However, we also know when to draw the line. While marketing campaigns need transcreation, clinical documents need exactness. We provide certified, scientifically accurate translations of English pharmaceutical labels and clinical trial consent forms to ensure absolute medical safety.

At C.ivy, we make sure your care actually translates.
