Information is power, and Myanmar is frequently in the crosshairs of global news. Journalists, documentary filmmakers, human rights organizations, and think tanks based in the US, UK, and Europe are constantly working to extract information from the country—and, conversely, broadcast educational content back into it.

But media is only as powerful as the audience that can actually understand it.

**From the Jungle to the Newsroom**
Imagine a foreign correspondent securing a rare, hour-long video interview with a community leader in a remote part of Kayah State. The audio is a mix of standard Burmese and local Karenni dialects. Before a producer in London can even begin to edit that footage into a documentary, they need to know what was actually said.

This requires a highly specific workflow: listening to the raw audio, transcribing the spoken ethnic language into written text, and then translating that text into perfect English so the Western editorial team can build their story with journalistic integrity.

**Broadcasting Back into Myanmar**
On the flip side, what happens when an international NGO produces a beautiful, high-budget English documentary about environmental rights, but wants to screen it for communities inside Myanmar? Releasing it in English means it will only be understood by a tiny fraction of the urban elite.

To make media truly accessible, it must be localized. But localizing multimedia from English to Burmese is a technical art.

Consider subtitling. When spoken English is translated into written Burmese, the text length usually expands. But subtitles can only remain on screen for a few seconds before the scene changes. A specialized media translator must expertly condense the Burmese translation, preserving the core meaning while ensuring the viewer actually has time to read it.

At C.ivy, we take English documentaries, news clips, and educational videos and provide accurate, perfectly timed subtitles in central Burmese, as well as major ethnic languages like Shan, Kachin, and Mon.

If a media outlet wants to produce local audio content, we translate the English broadcast scripts into natural-sounding Burmese, formatting it specifically for local voiceover actors. We also provide live English-Burmese interpretation for international webinars and digital town halls, allowing local citizens to participate in real-time.

We help media organizations bridge the vast communication gap between the West and Myanmar, ensuring that vital stories are always heard.
